As I met with some friends
this past weekend we discussed the topic of gratitude. We all agreed
practicing daily gratitude is beneficial. However, we were also humbled as
we admitted we don’t always F-E-E-L grateful.
Have you ever not felt grateful? Have you ever said you were
grateful but no one could tell, including yourself? Maybe you’ve even had
times you wondered if there was anything to be grateful for?
What my friends and I realized is when we look through a pinhole it’s
tough to see the full view. And when we focus on aspects we don’t like we
lose our ability to F-E-E-L grateful.
Sure there are times and situations in life that can test us. Sometimes
they even last several months or years. However, waiting for the external
changes to occur in order to feel better inside is a guaranteed recipe for
greater turmoil. For example, did you ever say, “I’ll be grateful when
(fill in the blank).” Or possibly you even said, “What’s there to be
grateful for?”
To achieve success in our lives we must transform ourselves from the
inside out. In fact that’s where the concept of
Embrace Your Rights
started. Nearly 20 years ago I didn’t believe I had anything to be
grateful for and certainly wasn’t doing well at this thing called “life.”
That’s when I wrote myself a list of Rights to give myself permission to
live – AND learn to enjoy life. Earlier this year I was nudged; okay
propelled into effortless action before I realized what was happening; to
revisit those Rights and create a format beneficial to all – thus the
birth of
Embrace Your Rights.
I thank God (Universe, Source, Higher Power – whatever your preference)
for my transformation (an on going process) and for my abilities to serve
others. I also thank each one of you for sharing in my journey.
Food for thought as we prepare to feast on food:
• How often do you practice gratitude? Practicing daily gratitude will
transform your life.
• Are you expressing your gratitude out loud? Even if only you and the
walls hear it, there is greater benefit when we speak our gratitude aloud.
• Do you F-E-E-L grateful? The feeling is the key.
• Until we speak and F-E-E-L grateful for what we have, the
Universe (God, Source, Higher Power) will not entrust us with more.
Happy Thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate the holiday and to those
of you who don’t enjoy an awesome and grateful day!
